Students who can communicate effectively have more influence on their peers, make better grades, have greater impact on their communities, and enjoy more successful careers. They also are more likely to share their faith and be active in church. The Student Speakers Competition is all about high school students in grades 10 – 12 becoming better communicators and stronger disciples of Christ. It’s not all work and no play. Participating students have fun and meet other students, plus they have an opportunity to won college scholarships. Student Speakers Competition provides:
Students have an opportunity to compete at four levels: church, associational, regional and state. Every student is automatically eligible to participate at the first three levels. The two highest scoring speakers in each region move on to compete at the state competition. The state winner competes at the national competition held each year in June. Each student develops a speech of between four and six minutes on a topic of his or her choosing. The highest scoring speaker at the Valdosta Baptist Association Competition receives a college scholarship. The state winner receives at least two college scholarships. One may be used at the college of your choice; the other may be used at one of three Georgia Baptist colleges. To learn more, call Karen North at 229-588-0345.
